Roye Okupe is building an African superhero universe, one graphic novel at a time. Okupe grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, watching American superhero cartoons, and when he moved to the the United States 14 years ago, he saw an opportunity to create a new comics universe that reflected his own culture. His initial plan was to make animated movies, but raising funds proved to be difficult, so he switched gears: He started writing graphic novels, and he hired African artists to illustrate them. In the past two years, his YouNeek Studios has published three graphic novels and an art book, with plans to publish four graphic novels a year going forward. Game follows characters 8 years after original story Sega Game announced on Friday that it will unveil a PoPoLoCrois smartphone game titled Popolocrois Monogatari ~ Narcia no Namida to Yōsei no Fue (Popolocrois Story: Narcia's Tears and the Fairy's Flute) at its Tokyo Game Show stage event on September 23. The new game's story will take place eight years after the original story. Pietro and Narcia are older and begin a quest at the behest of the fairy king. The characters will be rendered in 3D graphics, and the game will be free to play with the option to purchase in-game items. Epics producer Tetsuji Yamamoto and Sega Games managing director Oki Nagashima will appear at the stage event, where they will unveil a teaser movie, game details, and theme song. Sega Games filed a trademark for "Narcia no Namida to Yōsei no Fue" in July. The PoPoLoCrois Twitter account announced last year that a smartphone game was slated for this January but the game never surfaced. XSE

Agreement includes increase in bonus pay, transparency The SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) union announced on Monday that, as of Saturday, it has reached a tentative agreement to end its strike against 11 video game companies. The tentative agreement includes a bonus payments due to performers no later than the release date of the game. The payment is based on the number of recording sessions held for the game, from US$75 paid for the first session to US$2,100 for 10 sessions. The agreement also includes advancements in transparency, which SAG-AFTRA Chief Contracts Officer Ray Rodriguez said "will enhance the bargaining power of our members' representatives by requiring the companies to disclose the code name of project, its genre, whether the game is based on previously published intellectual property and whether the performer is reprising a prior role." Yuugo Kanno (Psycho-Pass) revealed as music composer for project The official website of animation studio Kamikaze Douga revealed a visual on Friday for Warner Bros. Japan and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Batman Ninja 2018 anime film project. The site also confirmed that Kamikaze Douga is working on the project, and that Yuugo Kanno (Psycho-Pass, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Ajin) is working on the music for the project. The website stated the project is three years in the making. Kamikaze Douga CEO and founder Junpei Mizusaki, character designer Takashi Okazaki, and writer Kazuki Nakashima were part of a panel at the New York Comic Con event on Thursday that introduced the project and unveiled a trailer.
