News Kodansha, Polygon Pictures Establish 'Kodansha VR Lab' VR Company
New company to develop VR, AR content with global target audience

Japanese publisher Kodansha and 3DCG anime studio Polygon Pictures announced on Friday that they established a new joint venture company called "Kodansha VR Lab" on October 17. Kodansha owns 70% of the new company, and Polygon Pictures owns 30%. Kodansha VR Lab's capital stock is 10 million yen (about US$876,000).

The new company will create VR and AR content such as videos, games, and other digital content. Kodansha VR Lab also plans to target its content to a global market.

Kodansha launched a VR contents development team in July 2016, and it previously worked with Polygon Pictures on the Hop Step Sing VR idol group project.

Polygon Pictures is known for anime such as the two Ajin television anime series and film trilogy, the Blame! film, the two Knights of Sidonia television anime series and film, and the upcoming Godzilla: Kaijū Wakusei film trilogy.
