IDW Brings Back the Comics Magazine With New Quarterly Journal

San Diego-based IDW Publishing announced plans late last year to open an office in Portland, Oregon, that would serve as the base of operations for a new imprint, Woodworks. Now the company has unveiled Full Bleed, a new comics and culture quarterly journal that will debut in December under that banner.

Curated and edited by Vice President of Marketing Dirk Wood, alongside CEO and Publisher Ted Adams, the 200-page hardcover will bring together “the very best in comics, fiction, non-fiction, in-depth interviews, opinion, history, think-pieces, and more.”

According to the announcement, “Full Bleed will tackle all aspects of the creative culture, and beyond — comics, music, film, television, fine art, photography, design, politics, and more. Full Bleed seeks true and total diversity through its content, creators and contributors, as well as genre and format.”

The quarterly’s first issue will include an exclusive interview with horror legend Stephen King, along with a “lost” interview with Alan Moore.

Full Bleed joins a number of other recent revitalized print publications, including Wizard — now also a quarterly — and Zainab Akhtar’s Critical Chips. Retailers will be able to place orders for the magazine through Kickstarter, and have them delivered through Diamond Comic Distributors.
