What makes an anime kiss stand out?

Well, to put it simply, a kiss in an anime series is just as deep and emotional than a kiss in a blockbuster movie.

1. Lovely Complex...happy birthday

Risa has been pursuing Otani for a long time.

It's always been difficult trying to get it through his thick skull that she likes him.

When she finally managed to, he found himself rejecting her multiple times.

The series is a good balance of humor and drama.

Mood swings are abound, and this scene, accompanied by fireworks in the background is a unique scene in the sense that it isn't the girl who's admitting that she likes the guy, but it's the guy who's confirming his feelings for the girl in the most direct way possible.

2. Toradora...your lips are rough 

Wrapped in a blanket pretending to be a bride in a small room illuminated by the moonlight.

It is a simple setting where a simple kiss is delivered.

After traveling so far, going through so much, eventually realizing that running away from home might have been a stupid freaking idea, and after all of that, realizing that they do indeed have feelings for each other, Taiga and Ryuuji, the two protagonists of Toradora share a kiss so simple it could happen to anyone.

But, the emotion, the genuine movements of them kissing 'again' and 'again', subtly and almost poetically, is so deeply moving.

It's truly Toradorable. 

3. Honey and Clover...appears more as a comedy skit than anything else

There's just something funny about seeing a hysterical, laughing man kiss a shy artist girl who's half his size while giving her an adorable red scarf.

The real gold in this scene is the aftermath, where Morita (the male) suddenly panics and runs off, after suddenly realizing what he just did.

Hagu, the cute girl in the video soon collapses to the ground, not knowing really how to react.

It might not be a direct representation of life, but who knows, maybe people really do act like this when they get kissed by someone out of the blue?

4. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya...kiss God to prevent the world from ending

This kiss has everything we want in an epic anime kiss.

Perhaps the only thing lacking here is the 'massive emotional revelation' that both characters are feeling.

But, we are nonetheless treated to a kiss accompanied by ominous latin music, massive creatures walking about in the background, and the fate of the world being decided at the very moment.

To summarize the event, our protagonist (Kyon) is trapped in a world created by a being with the power to manipulate reality like a god (Haruhi).

5. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya...unlike the others It is quite the tragedy.

From the acclaimed Movie: 5 cm per second, the kiss happens under a tree in the middle of winter.

As the world seems to be purposely pulling them apart, Takaki and Akari, the star-crossed lovers share a kiss under a cherry blossom tree.

They have long been friends, but the distance between them is growing ever larger.

The scene is romantic, peaceful, and atmospheric. But it is painful when you realize that this is the only kiss shared between the two characters.

As it is one of the last moments they spend together before they are cruelly separated from each other by the whims of the world.

The entire movie is painful to watch if you're expecting a romantic anime that ends on a good note.

Makoto Shinkai is a master of drama. Merely listening to the melody of the song can make you feel... the tragedy that abounds lovers in the real world.

6. Full Metal Panic ...after so damn long

This kiss has yet to be adapted into the anime scene, but fans were just rejoicing once it happened.

After perhaps so many episodes, so many long months spent in the series time line, the kiss that everyone was waiting for finally happened.

As the series went on, it became obvious to its followers that its two main characters were slowly becoming attracted to each other.

But naturally, this being anime, neither character (or maybe just Sosuke) refused to outright admit it.

Then this happens, perhaps accompanied with the chorus of a thousand 'squeeing' fangirls!
