Anime Educational! These Are 11 Things You Learn From Sports Anime

Aside from all the intense tournaments, inspirational (but corny) dialogues, and a bunch of middle/high school students aiming to be the National champions in their sports category for the year, sports anime are pretty educational – if you pay close enough attention.

Here are 11 things you can learn from sports anime.

1. Talent alone is not enough.

This is especially for those who think that they are better than everyone else just because they are talented.

Don’t rely on your talents alone; it’s always 1% Talent and 99% Hard Work.

If you depend only on your talent, you will easily be surpassed by those who work hard.

Instead, work even harder – because you already have an advantage – and you will reach greater heights. /cues inspirational shounen anime BGM

2. Zero before Hero

Sometimes we get envious of how good other people are – at studying, drawing, swimming, running, etc – but we often forget that everybody starts somewhere.

Perfection doesn’t happen right away, but it does happen with determination, hard-work, and lots of training (or practice)!

Sometimes you also have to learn from annoying senpais.

3. Strategies are important.

Team meetings are definitely needed.

Playing a sport isn’t only about strength, stamina, and endurance. Sometimes, it also involves the battle of the brains.

Why do you think team managers collect data of other school teams?

4. You’re not alone.

You are part of a team, even if it’s not a team sports.

You may be alone on the court/race track, but you will never be left alone. And when you’re feeling like you’re not good enough, remember that your senpais have your back.

Also remember that there will always be someone who’s supporting and cheering you on, even if they aren’t there on the “battle field” with you.

5. NEVER GIVE UP.

Failing isn’t the end of everything. More chances will come around, and you gotta continue to work hard for that.

Pick yourself back up, and don’t give up on yourself. And sometimes, you’re not doing it only for yourself.

6. Chase your dreams.

Don’t give yourself the chance to regret. There are dreams that you can achieve, and dreams that you can’t (like, having super powers).

Try your best to achieve those dreams that are possible, while you still can.

Even if you failed, at least you tried. Sometimes, you might discover even better things along the way.

7. Your health is more important.

Okay this contradicts point #5, but yes. There are many people who would sacrifice their health to chase their dreams, but remember that failing is not the end of everything.

When it seems necessary, sometimes, you just have to give up. If anything, your health should be your very top priority.

8. Studies are important.

Reason #1: It’s your basic responsibility as a student, so at the very least, do your best to score.

Reason #2: You won’t be able to join any tournaments if you fail your exams.

Reason #3: It’s scary/embarrassing when you get tutored by the smarter kids in your club.

9. Sometimes you only need to be good at one thing

10. Today’s friend might be tomorrow’s enemy

People come and go, and you won’t stay in the same class, school, company, group, or organization together, forever.

It’s inevitable that you may soon find yourself in a competitive position from your ex-best friend. Having said that, you won’t stay enemies forever. Because…
