Nintendo reportedly plans to appeal verdict A jury in Dallas, Texas decided in favor of iLife Technologies in its patent infringement lawsuit against Nintendo of America on Thursday. The court ordered Nintendo of America to pay US$10 million in damages to iLife for infringing on iLife's motion-sensing patents to create Wii and Wii U controllers. iLife filed the lawsuit in 2013, seeking US$144 million in damages, or US$4 for each of the $36 million Wii systems sold prior to the suit (Nintendo ended production on Wii consoles earlier that year). iLife uses to motion-sensing technology to monitor infants for sudden infant death syndrome and the elderly for falls. Nintendo's position was that iLife's patent was not properly written and therefore was invalid. A Nintendo representative told Rolling Stone that Nintendo disagrees with the verdict, and is seeking to raise the issue with the district court and court of appeals. Film opens in 40 theaters in 2-week screening on October 7-20 The official Twitter account for Shizuoka Broadcasting System's character Panpaka Pantsu revealed on Friday that the character will get a film with Sanrio character Pom Pom Purin starring alongside the character. The film, titled Eiga Panpaka Pantsu Matsuri Purin Ara Domo, opens in 40 theaters in Japan for a two-week screening from October 7 to 20. Yoshino Nanjō, who plays Panpaka in the film, will perform the film's theme song "Aoi Pantsu Shiroi Pantsu Sora no Are." This year's 40th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's The Promised Neverland manga has 1.5 million copies in print in Japan. Shirai and Demizu launched the manga in August 2016. Shueisha will publish the manga's fifth compiled volume (pictured at right) on Monday. Viz Media previewed the manga's first three chapters in English as part of its Jump Start initiative, then added the manga to the anthology's full lineup. Shueisha describes the manga: The lady I fondly call mom …is not my mom. The children I live with …are not my siblings. This is Grace Field House, a small orphanage. Although the orphanage wasn't the best, the three protagonists—Emma, Norman, and Ray—lived a peaceful and happy everyday life.
