DC’s Red Hood and the Outlaws Is Getting a New Name

WARNING: The following article contains minor spoilers for Red Hood and the Outlaws Annual #2, released this week by DC.

The recent changes to the status quo of DC’s Red Hood and the Outlaws Annual don’t end with the disappearance of Artemis or Bizarro, or the parting of Jason Todd and Roy Harper. The title is undergoing a name change, at least temporarily.

Writer Scott Lobdell revealed the series will be rechristened Red Hood: Outlaw with October’s Issue 27, which was solicited under the previous name.

“Without a buddy, Jason is not going to be as light as he has been in the past,” he told Newsarama. “He’s not going to be Frank Castle morose — but more like Clint Eastwood in his earlier movies. He’s going to be a man of much fewer words and much more violence. Having lost his partners, and Batman, he has a lot of feelings he’s going to keep bottled up.”

Lobdell emphasized the series will be called Red Hood: Outlaw “for now,” which suggests Jason eventually may reunite with his former partners. He also assured fans of Artemis and Bizarro that they won’t get the “short shrift” in this new era, which sees Pete Woods come on board as artist with September’s Issue 26.

Red Hood: Outlaw #27, by Scott Lobdell and Pete Woods, goes on sale Oct. 10 from DC.
