9 Of The Most Absurdly Overpowered jojos Bizarre Adventure characters.

With Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable confirmed for April of this year, we thought it would be a perfect time to talk about one common factor among the characters of this long-running manga franchise turned into anime: how overpowered a lot of these characters really are.

This gets to the point that one even wonders how it’s even possible to scratch these monsters…oh yeah, deus ex machina!

Thus, there will be heaps of spoilers for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure on this list. So let’s get started!

1. DIO BRANDO

We know Dio Brando was probably the most obvious choice for this list, as he was in two of the eight arcs and was the central antagonist for each of those.

Now, during each of his tenures as the main villain for the series, he was extremely powerful in his own right.

During the first arc, “Phantom Blood,” he was an almost unkillable vampire who could instantly freeze anything just by touching it.

Then, during the third arc, “Stardust Crusaders,” he keeps the near immortality given to him by his vampirism but loses the freezing powers.

However, he gains the ability of a stand, which is an astral projection of one’s spirit. Dio gains the terrifying stand ‘The World,’ more commonly known as ‘ZA WARUDO!!!’

This stand gives him the ability to stop time while putting a strain on his body, which is negligible, given his status as a vampire.

Add in his incredible strength, and he’s an unstoppable juggernaut.

2. KARS

As the central antagonist of the second arc of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, “Battle Tendency”, Kars began as a pretty overpowered beast.

He has a regenerative ability similar to that of a vampire, and an ability called Mode of Light which allows him to alter light around him using deadly bone sabers coming out of his arm, making him almost impossible to track with the naked eye.

All of this power came with a price since he was unable to venture out into the sunlight.

He also used the Stone Mask combined with the Red Stone of Aja to transform himself into the perfect being, in other words, a god.

In his new form, he’s able to do anything better than any living thing.

This includes being able to fly better than a bird and to use the power of Hamon energy better than any human.

He also lost his vulnerability to the sun AND became literally immortal.

The only way for him to be defeated was sending him to space, where he is trapped for the rest of time.

3. JOTARO KUJO

The first official ‘Jojo’ on the list of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure characters. Jotaro started off as a powerful combatant transformed into an overpowered gladiator.

Being the main protagonist of the third arc, “Stardust Crusaders,” Jotaro had the stand of Star Platinum.

Star Platinum was described as an incredibly accurate and powerful stand.

It’s accurate enough to grab a bullet out of thin air and being able to sketch a fly that was a mere speck on a picture to the point of being overtly recognizable in an encyclopedia.

Things started getting out of hand near the end of “Stardust Crusaders,” namely during the final fight against Dio.

About to be crushed by a steam roller, as previously mentioned earlier, Jotaro gained the ability to stop time and escaped from the piece of construction equipment. How did he do this, you might ask?

Star Platinum evolved as a stand further during “Diamond is Unbreakable,” where it became Star Platinum: The World.

It is described as possessing a mastery of time stop, which is able to ignore the strain put on Jotaro…seriously.

4. GIORNO GIOVANNI

Personally, to me, Giorno is the strongest Jojo of the entire series. Giorno is the main protagonist of the fifth arc of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, “Vento Aureo.”

Giorno Giovanni has a stand named Golden Experience, which is a decently powered stand that packs a lot of heat in the form of a special ability.

That ability is named ‘Life Giver.’ The ability does exactly as the title suggests: it gives life to things that have none.

It allows Giorno to transform nonliving objects into biological beings such as plants, animals, etc. He takes this a step further when he is able to transform inorganic material such as bullets into human body tissue and muscles, essentially acting as a pseudo-healing ability.

5. VANILLA ICE

Vanilla Ice was the last vampire ever created by Dio, and was the most fearsome minion encountered by Jotaro and the other heroes during “Stardust Crusaders”.

Being the last vampire, he’s practically immortal, except against the power of Hamon and sunlight. He also has incredible strength, like Dio.

However, he needs none of these vampiric abilities due to his stand, Cream.

Cream is a stand that resembles a ghoul and is able to devour itself, and when it does, it becomes a sphere of nothingness around itself.

The sphere of nothingness is completely invisible to the naked eye and erases anything it touches or as Vanilla Ice states, ‘sent to my dimension of darkness.’

6. OKUYASU NIJIMURA

Nijimura is a side character in the fourth arc, “Diamond is Unbreakable.” He shares a power similar to Vanilla Ice.

Nijimura has a stand called, The Hand.

In addition, to its exceedingly above average physical strength and speed, the Hand has the ability to erase anything that it touches.

Basically, he can cut the distance between himself and an object by just flailing his hand.

7. JOSUKE HIGASHIKATA (JOJOLION)

There were two characters with the name Josuke Higashikata throughout the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure universe, one of them being in “Diamond is Unbreakable.”

However, the Josuke we’re looking at is from the most recent arc in the manga, JoJolion.

Josuke has the stand Soft and Wet, which allows him to throw bubbles at his opponents. At first, that might not sound threatening, until you learn what these bubbles do.

When a bubble bursts near something, Josuke is able to steal one of its properties.

8. DIAVOLO

Giorno Giovanni needed to evolve his own stand in order to beat this guy.

You can probably guess that Diavolo, the main antagonist of “Vento Aureo,” might be a little challenge to defeat.

Diavolo has dual personalities, which he switches outside of combat in order to remain incognito.

Not only does his personalities completely change, but his appearance does as well, making him appear as a different person altogether.

What’s even more interesting is that his alter ego is completely unaware that he is actually Diavolo and only thinks of Diavolo as the ‘boss.’

Besides being completely incognito due to his dual identities, Diavolo is packing one of the strongest stands seen so far in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

He is in possession of King Crimson, which is able to delete time.

What that means is that he’s able to delete any period of time so that it never happened or occurred.

Diavolo mainly uses this for defense by making every attack that would’ve hit him miss, and mobility by seemingly teleporting from one place to the next.

9. FUNNY VALENTINE

Funny Valentine is the main antagonist of the seventh arc of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, “Steel Ball Run.”

Whenever Funny Valentine is pressed between two surfaces, no matter what the surface is made of or how heavy it is, he is allowed to travel to an alternate timeline.

He uses this power as a way to become seemingly immortal, in which Funny Valentine is able to replace himself with an alternate version of himself.

Funny can also bring someone else with him to the next dimension by using the same method: being pressed between two surfaces.
